What can you see through this Microscope?
If you want to observe cellular components, with this microscope you can see:
- the nucleus,
- cell walls,
- cell membranes, and
- some of the bigger organelles
It can be used on a daily basis to view bacteria, red blood cells, skin cells, and white blood cells in the medical field. But, if you want to see the nuclear details in leukocytes or any intracellular blood parasite, the resolution is insufficient. This is very fine microscope that show a lot of details in blood cells. It definitely isn’t a toy!
This is a compound/biological microscope which is suitable for viewing bacteria.
Bugs, rocks, leaves…
You can look at ordinary objects (like rocks) with this microscope. It’s not limited only for viewing objects that are in slides. You can use it for bugs, rocks, leaves etc.
You can view anything that safely fits under the lens.
Coins or stamps
Besides using a magnifying glass, you could use this microscope to look at coins. But, it’ll be a little darker unless you have some good lighting above, since the only light on the scope is underneath.
Also, you shouldn’t have any problem visualizing parasites with this microscope.
What can’t you see?
Culture media in petri dish
You will need to use an inverted compound microscope in order to view specimen in petri dish. If you have a lot of cultures you need to view while still in the dish, try and use an inverted scope.
This is a compound/biological microscope which is designed for viewing slides. It will not work for viewing metallurgical samples as that will require top illuminations. An inverted metallurgical microscope is recommended for that purpose.
How to take pictures or videos and connect it to computer?
The microscope itself cannot be connected directly to a PC, since there are no electronic ports.
However, it’s easy to connect USB digital camera (sold separately) to record what you see in the microscope and save that on your computer as a picture or a video clip.
There are 2 options for taking shots from this microscope and observing them on computer:
- Connecting your DSLR camera into the eyepiece
- USB cameras that you can connect directly to your computer
For this option, you will need a DSLR adapter to mount a DSLR camera onto this microscope.

Coaxial coarse/fine focusing knob
It has the fine focus knob which makes it very easy to focus in with ease and accuracy. Also you have a table-lift movement as well as light movement up and down.
It comes with a plastic cover to protect the lenses from dust and keep it clean.
It comes with 2 sets of eyepieces, a pair of 10x and a pair of 20x eyepieces. (WF10X, WF20X)
It is a metal unit well made for the price. Also the gears are made out of metal.
Adjust it for eyes
The sliding adjustable distance on this microscope has a range of 55mm to 75mm. It’s ideal for children because the eyepiece can be adjusted accordingly.
Intensity of the LED light source
It’s adjustable between completely off, and very bright. That’s a necessity as subjects of different densities at various magnifications require a wide range of lighting for optimal viewing.
The LED bulb comes with this microscope should last over 10,000 hours. Replacing the bulb is not hard, since it can be easily unplugged.
Adjustments on the slide tray
The specimen base slides left, right forward and backwards. It is not like the expensive instruments, but gives you enough movement to adjust the view precisely for a great viewing. There is a standard grip for a slide on the stage with an adjustment knob to move the stage (and slide) right to left and back and forth.
You don’t need to manually move the slide in order to view a different area of the specimen.
Is there micrometer on the eyepiece?
This microscope has no eyepiece reticle, and there is no micrometer on the eyepiece. But the stage has a marked measurement grid on two sides.
Does it have a good image at 2000x?
The focus at high powers is not so clear and sharp as with lower powers. But that’s always the case: the trade-off for getting high magnification is getting somewhat worse image quality. But, viewing at all magnifications with this microscope is comparable to most other microscopes.
The only other way you may get better quality images is to get a professional quality microscope in which case, each individual lens cost hundreds of dollars. The quality of the lens are pretty good on this microscope.
How to use this microscope?
It is really easy to use. It comes put together, only the eyepieces have to be “plugged in”. Some minor assembly is required to select and insert the eyepieces. Otherwise, you just attach the power supply for the illuminator and you are ready to start viewing.
